Blueberry Nutrition Benefits
Blueberries are high in fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants.
Fiber
1 cup of blueberries contains about 4 grams of fiber (1). Fiber is one of the most important nutrients to promote good gut health.
Also, fiber promotes regular digestion, may lower blood cholesterol, helps stabilize blood sugar, and may keep you feel full longer.
Vitamin C
1 cup of blueberries provides about 25% of the Daily Value (DV) of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is crucial for immune health, heart health and cancer prevention, wound healing, and skin health (2).
Antioxidants
Blueberries are high in antioxidants, which help fight against free radical effects on your body.
Blueberries contain an antioxidant called anthocyanin. These antioxidants are mainly in the skin of blueberries, and may help prevent heart disease (3).

How to Make Blueberry Chia Jam
Time needed: 10 minutes.
Chia jam is a weekly recipe in my house because it's so easy to make and a delicious additive in so many of my breakfast and snack recipes!
- Heat the blueberries
Heat the blueberries in a small pot for 5 minutes over medium-low heat.
You can use fresh or frozen blueberries. That's why I like this recipe so much - I can make it in any season and without worrying about the price of blueberries! - Stir in chia seeds
Once the blueberries are cooked, gently smash them with a spoon to make the blueberries burst.
Stir in chia seeds and add a dash of cinnamon.
FUN FACT: Cinnamon brings out the flavor of blueberries! - Sweeten with maple syrup (optional)
Depending on your preference, you can sweeten the chia jam with maple syrup.
- Thicken
Let the chia jam sit for at least 5 minutes to allow it to thicken.
